If allegations of misconduct against House Speaker Michael Madigan persist when and if his daughter, Lisa Madigan, becomes attorney general, she says they would be "taken seriously and looked at."
But, Lisa Madigan says, her father should stay on as chairman of the state Democratic Party while federal prosecutors probe his use of state dollars for possible political purposes. Some top Republicans, including gubernatorial candidate Jim Ryan, have suggested he should resign.
"There has been no merit to these allegations," Lisa Madigan, a Democrat, said during a campaign stop Friday in Hyde Park.
