Dracula, an adaptation of Bram Stoker's novel of the same name, is a 1979 horror movie directed by John Badham. Count Dracula (Frank Langella), an immortal vampire, travels from Transylvania to take residence at Carfax Abbey in Whitby, England. When he arrives at his new home, he immediately charms Mina (Jan Francis) and her best friend Lucy (Kate Nelligan), the daughter of psychiatrist Dr. Jack Seward (Donald Pleasence). After Dracula comes to dinner at Dr. Seward's home, Lucy's fiance Jonathan Harker (Trevor Eve) thinks that there is something very strange about the man. His suspicions are confirmed when the vampire sneaks into Mina's room and kills her by draining her blood. Dr. Seward and Jonathan then ask Mina's father Professor Abraham Van Helsing (Laurence Olivier) to help them bring down the bloodsucker. However, their plans get complicated when they learn that Lucy has fallen under the spell of Dracula and is trying to become his bride.
