'Game of Thrones' Season 2 Gets April 2012 Premiere Date

by Chris Harnick, posted Oct 9th 2011 1:00PM
Game of Thrones Season 2Winter is coming ... this spring. HBO has announced 'Game of Thrones' Season 2 will premiere in April 2012. Can you hold out six more months?

No specific premiere date has been announced.

Production of Season 2 has had some weather-related problems. In early September, five people were injured by high winds on the Northern Ireland set. Meanwhile, the cast has been growing as more book characters prepare to make their appearance in the TV show.

The first season of the hit HBO series was honored with 13 Emmy nominations. Peter Dinklage took home the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series and the show won for Main Title Design.

Check out a very short, non-spoilery teaser below.

Quite the wait but that gives you plenty of time to read the books! The TV series certainly helped me like them better, and I like knowing all the backstory. And to address a common complaint. Sex happens when people are involved, it's in the books as well. Doesn't bother me one way or another, if anything, makes it more real.

I devoured these books after watching the first season of G.O.T on HBO. Always meant to get around to reading the series but something always came up. But after season one's cliff hanger finale I HAD to run and read what happens next. Decided to start with the first book to get acquainted with the writing style (even if I already knew the story from watching the show) and was pleasantly surprised to how close they stayed true to the source. Sure there are some major changes here and there (and scenes from book two used in the first season out of place) but most of the characters are exactly how they appear in George Martin's elaborately created "Realm". I SO can't wait for the second season and I just pray that they don't hack the battle of Blackwater down to something smaller in scale due to budget restraints. It's one of the most epic literary Fantasy battle sequences I've read since classic Tolkien. (Although reading that Martin will pen the adaptation gives me hope.) SIx months will be a long long wait.

Yay. I don't see enough violent doggy style sex, at regular intervals that has nothing to do with the story, in every other show I watch. And a scenes that move with a very very deliberate pace.
