Filastin

Filastin , founded in 1911 by Isa al-Isa and his cousin Yusef al-Isa, was initially published in Jaffa

This bi-weekly newspaper was one of the most prominent and long running in the country at the time; it was dedicated to Arab Nationalism and the cause of the Arab Orthodox in their struggle with the Greek-Orthodox Patriarchate in Jerusalem.

With the establishment of Israel in 1948, the newspaper stopped publication. Many Palestinians were forced out of their homes, including Raja El-Issa, son of Isa al-Isa, who fled to Egypt, where he remained for two years. Homesickness brought him back to Palestine, to Jerusalem, where he resumed publishing the newspaper, still using the name Filastin, until 1967 when he moved to Amman. Subsequently, the Filastin was merged with the "Al Manar" newspaper to form "Al Dustour", which is still published in Amman.
