VATICAN - Catholic Prayers in the Languages of the World: Esperanto
Vatican City (Fides Service) - The Esperanto language was invented by Dr L. Zamenhof in 1887 and completed in 1951. A major contribution was given by German American Alexander Gode, (1906-1970) whose works include inter-lingual English Dictionary Interlingua Grammar and a volume entitled Interlingua at First Sight. The vocabulary and grammar of Esperanto is taken essentially from Latin roots common to most of the Romance languages such as English with simplifications
Catholic prayers in Esperanto are found in the Roman Missal in Esperanto approved in 1990 by the Vatican’s Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments. Here is an excerpt of the official document:

Laŭ peto, per letero de la 15a de decembro 1988, de Lia Moŝto Władysław Miziołek, titulara Episkopo de Prezidio kaj Helpepiskopo de Varsovio, Prezidanto de la Liturgia Komisiono pri la lingvo "Esperanto", surbaze de la povoj al ĉi tiu Kongregacio atribuitaj de la Plejsupra Pontifiko Johano Paŭlo la Dua, ni aprobas kaj konfirmas la tradukon en "Esperanto" de la ROMA MESLIBRO kaj de la ROMA LEGAĴARO, krome de la RITARO POR LA MESO laŭ la aldonita ekzemplero, tiel ke ĝi povu utiliĝi laŭ la "Normoj por la celebrado de la meso en Esperanto", starigitaj de ĉi tiu Kongregacio la 20an de Marto 1990 (Prot. CD 149/90) kaj almetitaj al ĉi tiu dekreto.
En la presota teksto estu enmetita komplete ĉi tiu dekreto, per kiu la petita konfirmo estas konsentita de la Apostola Seĝo. Du ekzempleroj de la dirita presita teksto estu transdonataj al ĉi tiu Kongregacio.
Iuj ajn kontraŭaj dispozicioj estas aboliciataj ĉi-rilate.
