Gutierrez replaces Perez for FP1
Esteban Gutierrez will replace the unwell Sergio Perez for the first practice session of the Indian Grand Prix.
Perez was forced to skip all media commitments and leave the circuit on Thursday morning due to a heavy cold, and in order to give him more time to recover, Sauber has decided it will run reserve driver Gutierrez on Friday morning instead. The team issued a short press release which reads:
"Due to the fact Sauber F1 Team race driver Sergio Pérez is unwell, the Sauber F1 Team has decided to let its reserve driver Esteban Gutiérrez jump into the car for the first free practice session ahead of the Indian Grand Prix on Friday. This should help Sergio's speedy recovery so he is able to drive for the remainder of the weekend."
Gutierrez is one of the leading candidates for a Sauber seat in 2013 should the team choose to replace Kamui Kobayashi.
