Anchor Bar coming to Jackson Square

The Anchor Bar – original home of the Buffalo chicken wing – is coming to Jackson Square.

Representatives from the iconic stateside restaurant confirmed Thursday morning that Jackson Square will be opening their first Canadian location.

Anchor Bar’s menu features a range of pub fare, including burgers, sandwiches, pasta, ribs, and of course, chicken wings.

Scott Kyle, the manager of Jackson Square, said Wednesday the restaurant will open early next year.

The news of Anchor Bar’s opening comes on the heels of the announcement of a new grocery store opening in the mall in the spring of 2013.

Nations Fresh Foods, a new 55,000-square-foot grocery store, will have a deli, fish counters, a bakery, prepared foods section and salad bar. Nations Fresh Foods is owned by Toronto-based grocery chain Oceans Fresh.

Oceans operates four stores — two in Brampton and two in Mississauga.

The $7-million supermarket is expected to bring 200 jobs to Hamilton's core.
