Sonia, Sushma and 'sacred basil'

BETTIAH: Star BJP campaigner Sushma Swaraj dwelt on the virtues of "Tulsi" to stump for Madan Prasad Jaiswal here on Thursday. She also spelt out reasons from the virtuous "Tulsi" to argue why Sonia Gandhi should not be PM.

Sushma spoke straight from her Bhartiya heart, elaborating on the virtuous centrality of Tulsi in Bhartiya, read Hindu, homes. "The Tulsi plant is Ma (Mother) for us," she said, adding, "Just as we consider the Ganga, cow and Bharat as our Mata."

Shifting gears, the BJP leader used "Tulsi" to "disqualify" Sonia from prime ministership. "Sonia cannot understand the importance of Tulsi," she said, adding, "For her, it is just a basil plant, its leaves used in making basil sauce for cooking pasta."

She spoke from her heart, and appealed to peoples hearts. "Kaho dil se, Atal phir se," she said.

When Sonia eats pasta, next, her pondering mind will find anser to why BJP fielded Smriti Malhotra Irani from Chandni Chowk? "Kyun Ki Tulsi..."

Darbhanga: BJP workers blew up conch shells and battle of "Mahabharat" begun here as Union minister and senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj targeted Congress president here on Thursday.

Sonia Gandhi suffers from "Drishti-dosh" (vision impairment), so she is unable to see the development works done by the NDA government in the country during its tenure, said Swaraj, while addressing an election meeting on Thursday at local Raj Ground.

Devoting most of the time of her speech in attacking Congress president, Swaraj said that due to her foreign origin and not accepting the citizenship of this country for 16 years, Sonia could not assimilate herself in the culture, tradition and heritage of this country.
