Male

Wingspan: 84 – 87 mm (n = 13).

Forewing upperside ground colour greenish-brown (fading to reddish-brown) (never the olive-green of fresh Xylophanes crotonis); first postmedian line sometimes slightly duplicated, giving the impression of a supernumerary line.

Harpe short and sharp-edged; broad from base to its middle, then tapering to a very sharply pointed hook, curved up at about 90° Apical process of aedeagus reduced compared to Xylophanes crotonis (similar to that of Xylophanes aristor); left lobe distally convex, its anterior margin edged in a row of small, equally sized teeth; dorso-lateral edge of the area joining the left and right lobes concave; right lobe a short hook, ending in either a single point or several small irregular teeth.
