PATNA: Every household with more than one gas connection or having incomplete address will have to fill the 'Know Your Customer (KYC) ' form by October 31 failing which the existing connections would be cancelled. However, those having only one connection in their name can fill the KYC by March 31, 2013, and submit it to their respective gas agencies. State food and consumer protection minister Shyam Rajak on Friday, at a meeting held with the IOC officials, directed them to ensure the availability of KYC form on the company's website, i.e. www.iocl.com and www.indane.co.in.

NEW DELHI: Sony Mobile India today officially launched its first sub-Rs 10,000 smartphone, Xperia tipo. The company also unveiled the dual-SIM version of Xperia tipo, Xperia tipo dual, at the event. Xperia tipo is powered by Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and will contend against the likes of Samsung Galaxy Ace and HTC Desire C. Sony Xperia tipo features a 3.2-inch touchscreen and is powered by an 800MHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with 512MB RAM. The internal storage of the device is 2.5GB, though the memory can be increased up to 32GB via microSD.

NEW DELHI: Apple iPhone 5, which will be launched in India on November 2, will be priced at Rs 45,500 for the entry-level 16GB model. The 32 and 64GB models will be sold at 52,500 and 59,500 respectively. The prices have been shared by Redington, one of the two distribution partners of Apple in India, in the country and are in line with the unconfirmed price range that TOI had earlier reported . Redington and Ingram have also confirmed TOI's Friday report that Apple is set to launch the iPhone 5, its latest smartphone, in India on November 2, 2012.

NEW DELHI: Faced with huge discontentment among military personnel over their long-standing pay and pension grievances, the government on Monday finally announced an annual Rs 2,300 crore additional pension package for ex-servicemen but stopped short of granting them full one-rank, one-pension (OROP). The government also maintained silence on the fate of the five main demands of serving officers and jawans, who contend they were given "a raw deal" in the 6th Pay Commission as compared to their civilian counterparts.

KISHANGANJ: The resurgent Bihar has something more to cheer about as Kishanganj, which once put the state on country's tea map, might be on the oil map of the country soon. The Oil And Natural Gas Commission (ONGC), after doing oil exploration of the area, is likely to start drilling operation in the first week of August at Narkali under Kochadhaman block in Kishanganj, ONGC sources said. ONGC scientists as well as engineers are expecting a huge reservoir of oil in the district.

NEW DELHI: In an unprecedented move, Apple India has slashed the prices of iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S within a week of lowering their retail prices, say media reports. Industry sources have stated that an Apple spokesperson confirmed the second price cut of the last two iPhones. Moreover, the spokesperson also said iPhone 3GS has been discontinued in India, just like in the global market. After the recent price cut, the 8GB model of Apple iPhone 4 will cost Rs 26,500, whereas the 16GB variant of Apple iPhone 4S will be retailed at Rs 38,500.

NEW DELHI: Touts and illegal agents have found novel ways to bypass the heavy traffic to IRCTC's Tatkal booking site, log on quickly and corner tickets at will. Tatkal tickets, as the name suggests, can be booked 24 hours ahead of journey and touts say their businesses run on their ability to beat the traffic. One of those TOI talked to, claimed he was always a "step ahead of others". Step one, he said, was to use a non-MTNL net connection. "In India, MTNL is the preferred service provider, so traffic on the IRCTC site from BSNL servers is very heavy.
