Cryptic Studios: "Neverwinter Won't Be Pay-To-Win"

By Katie Williams | PC News | Nov 4, 2012 12:19 PM | 0 Comments

It kind of sucks that "free-to-play" still has unsavory connotations, because there are some great games out there using the model successfully, and hey, who doesn't love a game that requires no initial investment on your behalf? Unfortunately, though, there are enough wallet-eaters out there to make us wary. Neverwinter lead producer Andy Velasquez has now come forward to tell us about the upcoming MMO's free-to-play system -- and he suggests that Neverwinter will still offer a full experience without locking any content behind paywalls. Grow Limbs Out Of An Eyeball In Incredipede

By Katie Williams | PC News | Nov 3, 2012 2:11 PM | 0 Comments

Incredipede, a "game about life and feet," is now ready for your... pleasure. If you could call it that. Look, I'm not joking. You can attach limbs to an eyeball. I was going to suggest that it's probably not something you should try at home, but there's a convenient demo and everything. Let me know how your eyeballs fare with creepers attached. Read More »

Akaneiro: Demon Hunters Enters Closed Beta

By Katie Williams | PC News | Nov 3, 2012 1:48 PM | 0 Comments

You know, I was almost-kinda-genuinely worried that the flow of scary games and DLC updates would be stemmed with the post-Halloween sugar crash. It seems I had no reason to worry; there'll always be a market for Dark Games! Today, the latest from famed game darkener American McGee -- who this time has twisted Red Riding Hood into the demon-hunting Akaneiro -- is entering closed beta. Read More »

Phantasmaburbia Is A Spooky New Indie RPG

By Katie Williams | PC News | Nov 3, 2012 1:19 PM | 0 Comments

If there was a guy flapping about my neighborhood in a bedsheet, I'd want to exterminate him too. Want to. I'd more likely just stay indoors and quiver at the thought of such madness disturbing my hermitude. Not Greg "Banov" Lobanov, though -- the indie developer instead made an RPG game about defending an entire town from an onslaught of sheet-bearers with a tiny army of teenagers, and it's out now, feeding off the remains of Halloween. Battlefield 3 Aftermath Map: A Ground-Breaker

By Katie Williams | PC News | Nov 3, 2012 12:48 PM | 0 Comments

Looking at this new video for Battlefield 3's "Aftermath" DLC, it's clear that somebody had some pretty devastating parties here. As you know from the single-player campaign, Tehran is all shook up thanks to an earthquake, and now it's time for you to absolutely shatter the place in one of four new multiplayer maps, Epicenter. Guild Wars 2's The Lost Shores Event will Unravel the Mysteries of the Deep Sea

By Taylor Cocke | PC News | Nov 2, 2012 2:00 PM | 0 Comments

I don't trust any place called the "Sea of Sorrows." And judging by this hint that something terrifying will be arising from its depths in Guild Wars 2, my distrust is absolutely justified. I mean, the upcoming Lost Shores event will be one that "will change Tyria forever!" You've got to know that said change won't be anything good. Read More »

Tally Ho: Sir, You Are Being Hunted Kickstarter Begins

By Taylor Cocke | PC News | Nov 2, 2012 1:41 PM | 0 Comments

We've been excited about Sir, You are Being Hunted for quite some time now, so it's rather exciting every time we get more information about it. This time around, it's coming in the form of a Kickstarter designed to fund the rest of the project. So, if a game where robotic British gentlemen hunt you for sport is your cup of tea (get it?), I'd highly recommend pledging a little cash to the project. Read More »

Update 8.1 Brings the Brits to World of Tanks

By Taylor Cocke | PC News | Nov 2, 2012 1:11 PM | 0 Comments

The British (tanks) are coming! The British (tanks) are coming! In World of Tanks 8.1, a whole new tree of armored weaponry will be dropped onto the battlefield, all from the British Isles. Not only that, there are four revamped maps for you to roll around on. And that's not even mentioning the new premium vehicles to pick up. Oh, and you can buy premium ammo with in-game currency now. A definite doozy of an update, if you ask me. Read More »

Checking In: Patches for Medal of Honor Warfighter

By Mike Nelson | PC News | Nov 2, 2012 12:19 PM | 0 Comments

Believe it or not I want every game to be great. So when Medal of Honor Warfighter completely stumbled out of the gate on October 23rd, I was pretty bummed. As we noted in our review the single-player delivers a rather weak campaign experience, but the multiplayer (while buggy) holds a lot of promise. While there's no patch that will fix a scripted campaign, Danger Close has been hard at work delivering weekly patches to fix many of the multiplayer issues that plagued us and many PC gamers. Free Agent: Offensive Combat

By Katie Williams | PC Articles | Nov 2, 2012 11:40 AM | 0 Comments

GameSpy's Free Agent is your advance recon into the world of free-to-play games. His mission: jump into a free game every week and put in some gaming hours to see how much fun can be had without spending a cent, then try out some paid items to see if they're worth the asking price. This week he puts on his troll-face to see just how rude Offensive Combat can get – both in the areas of gameplay and microtransactions. Read More »

Square Shows Off Hitman: Absolution's Living World

By Mike Sharkey | PC News | Nov 2, 2012 7:52 AM | 0 Comments

Agent 47: Professional Eavesdropper. I plan on earning that title in Hitman: Absolution by lurking in the shadows and listening to all the dirty little secrets its digital residents have to share. Square Enix is touting its living, breathing world in the latest Absolution trailer, and along with cameos by an array of loose-lipped characters, it also reveals one of the more humiliating ways to take out a target: death by plunger. See for yourself within. Read More »
