JAKARTA, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian government will speed up the discussion on border issues with Malaysia to help settle friction with the neighboring country, Foreign Affairs Minister Marty Natalegawa said here on Wednesday.
"Due to the mounting pressure, we will speed up negotiation on border issues with neighboring countries, especially sea borders between Malaysia and Indonesia," Marty was quoted by the Kompas. com. as saying.
Marty said that Indonesia's intention to discuss the border issues has been sent to the Malaysian government and a meeting by representatives of the two neighboring countries is scheduled in Kinabalu on Sept. 6, 2010.
There have thus far been 15 negotiations on border issues being held with Malaysia, Marty said, adding that 16 maritime border agreements between the two countries have also been approved.
