The economic downturn caused many construction projects across the area to be put on hold. Fortunately, construction in the region seems to be bouncing back to revitalize neighborhoods and get rid of community eyesores.
One week in September, city regulators approved more than $1.5 billion in new construction projects, from a $500 million expansion of New Balances headquarters in Brighton, to large residential and retail developments in Downtown Crossing, the Fenway, and the South End.
