Biography:

Debbie Wasserman Schultz was born in Forest Hills, N.Y., and lives in Weston, Fla., with her husband, Steve Shultz. They have three children.

Wasserman Schultz is a Democratic state senator. She has bachelor's and master's degrees in political science from the University of Florida. At 26, she became the youngest woman ever elected to the Florida Legislature, serving in the House from 1992 through 2000 when she was elected to the Senate.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz is making her first run for Congress, seeking the seat being vacated by Rep. Peter Deutsch, who ran unsuccessfully for the U.S. Senate. Wasserman Schultz was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 1992, 1994, 1996 and 1998. In 2000 she was elected to the Florida Senate.
