Laura Collier

Collier to Head NT Studio

The independent theatre producer Laura Collier has been appointed Head of the National Theatre Studio. She will take up the appointment in late November, succeeding Purni Morell who has become Director of The Unicorn Theatre.

Prior to her freelance producing career, Laura Collier was Senior Producer at Battersea Arts Centre, London. As well as creating work with a huge range of artists, she also established The Independents, a new cultural leadership programme; produced Kneehigh's Don John in the Grand Hall; and developed a new programme of work with Forest Fringe.

Before joining BAC, She was Associate Producer at the Traverse, Edinburgh, where she led the programming and producing of national and international new theatre and dance, working with around fifty companies each year, as well as initiating and producing Traverse Cubed (a groundbreaking season of music, theatre and visual arts), and developing site specific performances across Edinburgh.

She was Administration and Education Manager for Out of Joint from 2000-2003.

Founded in 1984, the NT Studio is fundamental to the National’s system of artistic development and support, broadening the work presented on its stages and refreshing and renewing its repertoire. In recent years projects have included War Horse, Waves, The Power of Yes, Or You Could Kiss Me and London Road. The Studio also plays a vital role in promoting the health and renewal of theatre at large by providing an environment in which writers, actors and practitioners of all kinds can explore, experiment and devise new work free from the pressure of public performance.
