Brickside Food & Drink poised for Bethesda

The principals of Villa Mozart in Fairfax and Grand Central in Adams Morgan are teaming up to open an American restaurant and bar in Bethesda in late December.

This thing you should try: a 60-something degree egg

Unlike a poached egg, where a soft boil solidifies the white along with some of the yolk, a 64-degree egg is more unctuous throughout.

This is what happens when Jon Hamm and Daniel Radcliffe star in a British miniseries

Harry Potter and Don Draper: together at last. (Via YouTube)
You know that simply wondrous work of fanfiction you wrote about Harry Potter and Don Draper that really should have become a publishing sensation akin to “50 Shades of Grey” by now?

Well, it’s now come to (sort of) life in the form of a preview for a British miniseries starring Jon Hamm and Daniel Radcliffe.

Heidi Klum and her many unusual MTV EMA looks

In Monday’s morning mix, I noted that Heidi Klum wore a somewhat bizarre, peacock-reminiscent dress on the red carpet during Sunday’s MTV European Music Awards. (See dress below.)

I must apologize. I misspoke. Klum actually wore several somewhat bizarre and revealing dresses during the EMAs, which she hosted this year.

Justin Bieber may not be done with Selena Gomez; ‘Skyfall’ opens big at the box office

A morning mix of entertainment headlines . . .

A disturbance in the young pop star Force: Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez are over, unless Bieber tries to woo her back. (Darren Calabrese - AP)

Forget all that stuff about Gen. David Petraeus and his career-destroying affair with Paula Broadwell. The real scandal of the weekend was, of course, the end of Bieber/Gomez. Yes, both the Associated Press and People confirmed that Selena Gomez broke up with boyfriend Justin Bieber “about a week ago” because of “some trust issues.” This is Earth-shattering news that, of course, we’ve all heard many times before. But it sounded more definitive this time — definitive enough to prompt TV Guide to move on super-fast and ask, “Who should Selena Gomez date next?” (Really? Gosling is an actual option here?) But WAIT. Just hold. on. Bieber allegedly tells TMZ that he thinks he can patch things up with Gomez. Is he telling the truth? Or is he just saying this so that when he talks about her in that previously taped “Oprah’s Next Chapter” interview he won’t look quite as foolish? Or is all of this some sort of weird publicity stunt designed to make us all watch a new music video starring America’s cutest barely legal couple? I don’t know with these kids anymore. I just don’t know. (Associated Press; People; TMZ)

Skyfall ” opened huge, earning an impressive $90 million in North American box office money to become the No. 1 movie in the land. That’s the biggest opening ever for a James Bond film, when not adjusting for inflation. Nicely done, 007.(Associated Press)

A judge has ruled that Halle Berry cannot move her daughter Nahla to France. Berry, who is engaged to French actor Olivier Martinez, reportedly made the request because French law is stricter about regulating paparazzi and invasion of privacy issues. But the girl’s father, Gabriel Aubry, objected to the distance and a judge apparently agreed. (New York Daily News)

‘The Walking Dead’: American gladiators and widower breakdowns

A weekly analysis of (some of) the gory details in the latest episode of “The Walking Dead.” As always, spoilers ahead.

Hoo-whee, y’all. After watching this week’s episode of “The Walking Dead,” there is nothing I’d rather do than crack open some microbrews, crank some Skynryd and watch a gladiator fight in which the combatants could get chomped on by a zombie at any moment.

Granted, that’s how I spent last Saturday. But it’s so durn fun — and, as the Governor of Woodbury notes, makes people feel so much better about the whole thing, the whole thing being the zombie-pocalypse and destruction of the Untied States as we once knew it — that I am totally in the mood to settle in for more mano a mano a chained-up walker action.

But I can’t yet. Five matters that were raised by the latest “Walking Dead” — an installment called “Say the Word” — need to be addressed. As soon as I get through those, though, let’s get ready to toothless zombie rumb-lllllllle!

In honor of ‘Skyfall,’ a list of the 10 best James Bond theme songs

Ask someone to name the best James Bond theme song ever recorded and she’ll probably say “Goldfinger.” Unless she says “Live and Let Die” ... or possibly “Thunderball.”

(Christie's South Kensington - Post file photo)

Like so many things about the 50-year-old spy franchise, its signature tunes spark strong opinions, as demonstrated last month in a Celebritology Live discussion when several readers weighed in on this topic and sparked a Duran Duran debate. re: “A View to a Kill’s” place in the MI6-movie soundtrack pantheon.

That conversation convinced me to write this Friday list, which ranks the 10 best Bond theme songs. (The signature 007-identifying melody, which is obviously No. 1, was not counted since it’s used throughout the series.) Given the age of the Bond franchise, a significant number of tracks didn’t make the cut. Apologies in advance to Aha, Madonna, Jack White and Alicia Keys and Rita Coolidge.

Of course, this is just based on one Celebritologist’s opinion. I’d love to hear yours’, too. Share your own rankings, or scream at me for omitting Sheryl Crow’s “Tomorrow Never Dies,” by posting a comment below.
