  YANG Yuanqing
Chief Executive Officer

Yang Yuanqing is chairman and chief executive officer of Lenovo. He returned to the chairman post in 2011 and has been leading Lenovo's global business as CEO since 2009. Mr. Yang has served as chairman of the board of Lenovo Group Limited previously from 2005-2009, after having held the CEO position prior to 2005. Mr. Yang joined Lenovo in 1989. Under his leadership, Lenovo has been China's best-selling PC brand since 1997. In 1999, Lenovo ranked as first in PC sales in Asia-Pacific (excluding Japan) and has maintained this position ever since.

Mr. Yang has been named “Asian Businessman of the Year,” Forbes Asia. He also was named as one of the “Stars of Asia” by BusinessWeek magazine and has been selected by the Chinese media as one of China's "Ten Star Entrepreneurs" and "Ten Most Valuable Managers." He was also named by CCTV as a "Man of the Year" in 2004. He holds a master’s degree from the Department of Computer Science at the University of Science and Technology of China. Mr. Yang is also a member of the National Youth Association Committee, director of China's Entrepreneurs’ Association, a guest professor at the University of Science and Technology of China, and a member of the New York Stock Exchange's International Advisory Committee.

  Milko Van DUIJL
Senior Vice President, Asia Pacific & Latin America

Milko van Duijl is the president of the Asia Pacific & Latin America Geo at Lenovo, and senior vice president, Lenovo Group. His organization consists of the regions of ASEAN, Brazil, HTK (Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea), India, Japan, Latin America and ANZ (Australia and New Zealand). Milko leads a multi-national team across these diverse and fast-growing markets towards sustainable and profitable growth.

Prior to this role, Milko spent three years as the president of Lenovo’s Mature Markets Group, which consisted of the geographies of North America, Western Europe, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. Under his leadership, the group achieved record highs in market share and profitability, and successfully embarked on two high profile partnerships: a joint venture with NEC in Japan, and the acquisition of MEDION AG in Europe.

Milko is a global Lenovo veteran and widely respected leader who had also previously served as the company’s president in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). During his time in this role, Milko turned around the business and spearheaded the critical transition following the acquisition of IBM’s Personal Computing Division by Lenovo Group.

Before joining Lenovo, Milko spent 16 years at IBM in various executive roles, building his expertise and track record in the hardware and software markets.

Milko holds a doctorandus title / MBA from the University of Rotterdam, a BBA from the University of Nijenrode, and is fluent in Dutch and English and proficient in French and German. He currently resides in Hong Kong.

  Dr. Peter HORTENSIUS
Senior Vice President, Product Group

Dr. Peter D. Hortensius was named President of Lenovo’s global Product Group in January 2011. In his position, Dr. Hortensius is responsible for developing Lenovo’s Think-branded commercial and Idea-branded consumer products, including ThinkPad and IdeaPad laptops, ThinkCentre and IdeaCentre desktops, ThinkStation workstations, ThinkServer servers, and other PC-related products. He manages a global team of more than 2,000 engineers, designers and marketers focused on introducing ground-breaking innovations to serve businesses and consumers in more than 90 countries.

Prior to this role, he served as Senior Vice President of Lenovo’s Think Product Group. In this role, he managed the company’s commercial product portfolio and was responsible for increasing market share and profitability in enterprise segments and in new growth areas like small-to-medium business by launching the ThinkPad Edge line of laptops.  In 4Q 2010, Lenovo captured the #1 share in the enterprise notebook segment.

In April 2007, with the formation of the Lenovo Consumer Group, Dr. Hortensius led the ThinkPad laptop business and was responsible for the performance for all of Lenovo’s commercial laptop business. An example of the innovation and industry leadership coming from Dr. Hortensius’ team was highlighted in the February 25, 2008  Business Week cover article on “Building the Perfect Laptop,” the story of the ThinkPad X300.

Dr. Hortensius joined Lenovo in May, 2005 as Senior Vice President for Worldwide Product Development and was appointed Senior Vice President for Lenovo’s Notebook Business Unit in October with business and product development responsibilities for all the ThinkPad and Lenovo-branded laptop lines.    

Before joining Lenovo, Dr. Hortensius was the Vice President, Products and Offerings for IBM Personal Computer Division, where he led product development for ThinkPad, ThinkCentre, and associated options and software businesses. He was a member of the core team which negotiated the historic deal between IBM and Lenovo for the acquisition of IBM’s PC business in 2005.    

Dr.  Hortensius spent 17 years with IBM and has extensive expertise in product and technology research and development, having held positions as both a development executive and CTO of the PC and PC Server Divisions.   

Before moving to Raleigh, North Carolina in 1998 to join IBM’s PC and PC Server business, he spent 10 years working at IBM’s renowned T.J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, New York. During this time he was granted ten patents.     Dr. Hortensius holds a doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Manitoba in Canada, which he received in 1988.

  CHEN Xudong
Senior Vice President, Lenovo Group President, Lenovo China

Chen Xudong is senior vice president of Lenovo Group and president for Lenovo China Region. Mr. Chen, who oversees Lenovo’s business and operations in mainland China, has rich experience in sales and marketing, commercial operation, quality management and channel management in the industry and holds an international perspective.

Mr. Chen joined Lenovo in 1993, and served as various leading roles including Regional Sales, Commerce, Quality, and Channel Management. He was appointed as vice president of Lenovo Group in April 2005, and took charge of Lenovo’s channel sales and consumer business for Asia Pacific in 2006. From December 2008 to December 2009, he was responsible for the strategy and operations of Lenovo’s Asia Pacific and Russia regions, and then moved to Lenovo’s Emerging Market Group. Mr.Chen has served as the general manager of Lenovo China region since December 2009, and was appointed to senior vice president of Lenovo Group in October 2011.

Mr.Chen graduated from Peking University with a bachelor’s degree in probability statistics in 1989 and a master’s degree in the same discipline in 1992. Mr. Chen also holds an EMBA degree from China Europe International Business School.

He Zhiqiang (George) is senior vice president and chief technology officer. He is responsible for corporate research and development systems and product chain (research and development) management and oversees the company's research centers in Beijing, China; Raleigh, North Carolina; and Yamato, Japan. Previously, Mr. He was senior vice president, Research and Technology, and the managing director of Lenovo's corporate Research and Development, during which he made significant contributions to Lenovo's R&D initiatives and systems. He joined Lenovo in 1986 after graduating from the Institute of Computing Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences with a master's degree in Computer Science.

  LIU Jun
Senior Vice President, Mobile Internet Digital Home

Liu Jun is senior vice president, Product Group, where he oversees product development and portfolio management for Lenovo’s product line. Previously, he led IDEA product line. Before that, he was president of the Consumer Business Group and senior vice president of Lenovo Group.

Previously, Mr. Liu served as senior vice president, Global Supply Chain, where he had responsibility for global procurement, logistics, fulfillment and sales support, supply planning, strategy and manufacturing operations. Before that, he was senior vice president and chief operating officer of Lenovo China, with responsibility for profit/loss and all aspects of the business. Mr. Liu also was the architect of the company's PC supply chain model. He also held a broad range of leadership positions including leader of the Consumer business in China, research and development, corporate strategy, the Desktop PC business unit, and Integrated Supply Chain, giving him extensive experience in IT operations, research, development and marketing.

  QIAO Jian
Senior Vice President, Human Resources

Ms. Jian Qiao (Gina), senior vice president, Human Resources, is responsible for organizational development, global talent, compensation and benefits as well as nurturing the company’s culture.

Before assuming her current role, she led Lenovo’s Strategy and Planning, where she was responsible for Lenovo's strategic initiatives and implementation, including all aspects of Lenovo's global business. Under her leadership, the strategy and planning organization worked closely with both Lenovo’s Board of Directors and Lenovo Executive Committee to provide strategic solutions to achieve business objectives.

Before that, she was vice president, Human Resources, after serving on the team that worked on the Lenovo-IBM PC business integration.  In Human Resources, she played a key role in the integration of the two companies’ different HR systems and business cultures.

Ms. Qiao joined Lenovo in 1990 and has held various posts in different departments. She worked in Marketing/Branding for nine years, contributing to the innovative and successful marketing/promotion programs that improved Lenovo’s market brand. Ms. Qiao holds a Bachelor’s degree in management science from Fudan University and holds an EMBA from China-Europe International Business School (CEIBS). She is married and has one daughter.

  David SCHMOOCK
Senior Vice President, President NA

David Schmoock is president North America and senior vice president Lenovo Group.  He is responsible for North America sales, daily operations, growth and market share of the region. Under his leadership Lenovo’s retail presence in North America increased by triple digits year over year and market share and profitability grew to the historic record for the company. 

Prior to assuming this position, Mr. Schmoock was senior vice president, Operations for Lenovo’s Mature Markets. He managed daily operations including business model deployment, product marketing, pricing, demand/supply, sales operations, business intelligence and business transformation across Western Europe, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and North America.  Previously, he also served as Lenovo’s chief information officer and was responsible for company's information technology strategy and operations, including network infrastructure, business applications and data security.

When he joined Lenovo in 2006, Mr. Schmoock held the role of senior vice president, Center of Excellence (COE), which was a new organizational hub managing critical business and customer activities.

Before joining Lenovo, Mr. Schmoock was at Dell Inc. since 1997, where he held a series of roles including vice president of marketing for Asia-Pacific/Japan.  He lived and worked in Singapore for an extended period of time.

Prior to Dell Inc., Mr. Schmoock worked at Xerox Corporation. There he served in a wide range of assignments including pricing, sales strategy and market analysis.

Mr. Schmoock holds a bachelor of arts degree in Political Science from Columbia University. He also served in the United States Army.

  Gianfranco LANCI
Senior Vice President, EMEA President

Gianfranco Lanci joined Lenovo in April 2012 as president of the company’s EMEA geography and senior vice president of Lenovo Group. He is responsible for all business across Lenovo’s largest geography – which includes 121 countries, 40 offices and 1,800 employees – and is part of Lenovo Group’s leadership executive committee.

Lanci started his career in Texas Instruments (TI) in 1981 for the company’s calculator and digital watch business. He served in several roles during his 17 year tenure, most notably as country manager for the Printers and Portable Computers Division in Italy and Middle East and Africa and then as president for TI’s Productivity Products Division in EMEA.

Following Acer’s acquisition of TI’s notebook division in 1997, Lanci became managing director of Acer Italy, followed by president of Acer Europe in 2000 and president of EMEA in 2002. As president of Acer EMEA he introduced an innovative channel business model saw Acer become the #1 PC player in EMEA.

In 2005 Lanci was appointed as president of Acer Inc and in 2008 he became CEO (chief executive officer) and president. Under his leadership Acer became the #2 PC company in the world – achieving record profitability for three consecutive years.

Gianfranco Lanci graduated from the Politecnico of Turin where he earned his degree in civil engineering. Lanci resides in Milan and is married with three children. His passions are books, cycling, football and wine appreciation.

  David ROMAN
Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer

David Roman is senior vice president and chief marketing officer at Lenovo, responsible for driving all marketing activities for the global personal computer maker.

Prior to joining Lenovo, David was vice president of worldwide marketing communications for Hewlett-Packard's Personal Systems Group, responsible for driving advertising, media relations and marketing services. He was responsible for HP’s award winning “The Computer is Personal Again” campaign.

Before HP, David was vice president of Corporate and International Marketing at NVIDIA. He also held a number of different marketing leadership roles at Apple Computer in Europe, Asia Pacific and the USA. His last Apple role was vice president of worldwide advertising and brand marketing.

David graduated from the Queensland University of Technology (Australia) with a degree in Architecture after starting his architectural studies at the Polytechnic of Torino (Italy). He also pursued executive MBA studies at INSEAD in Paris.

  Gerry P. SMITH
Senior Vice President, Global Supply Chain

Gerry Smith joined the Lenovo Group in August 2006 as senior vice president, global supply chain, and is responsible for end-to-end supply chain management encompassing order management, supply/demand planning, procurement, manufacturing and logistics. He has established a sustainable management structure with unyielding attention to detail that has resulted in a more agile and effective supply chain. Under his leadership, the supply chain has increased customer satisfaction and improved serviceability results, while simultaneously reducing end-to-end and materials costs. For his accomplishments, Mr. Smith earned 2009 Supply Chain Executive of the Year award at the SCM Logistics World 2009 conference. At the same time, Lenovo won the 2009 Supply Chain Excellence award that applauds innovation and superior execution in supply chain management.

Before joining Lenovo, Mr. Smith was vice president and general manager of the display line of business for Dell, Inc. In that role, he was responsible for all development, procurement and operations worldwide. Concurrently, he led the start-up of the Singapore Design Centre and managed its integrated global supply chain. Prior to that, he was vice president of the Worldwide Peripherals Development and Procurement Group, where he helped define and operate the company’s industry-leading global supply chain. Mr. Smith also served in numerous other management assignments at Dell, including: vice president and general manager of the Inspiron notebook division; director of peripheral development; director of storage procurement; and several marketing assignments.

From 1987 to 1993, Mr. Smith worked at Definicon, where he managed sales, marketing, procurement and operations for this technology start-up. Prior to Definicon, he worked as a financial analyst with EDS.

Mr. Smith holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance and Marketing from Pacific Lutheran University. He is a member of the SCM World Speaker Faculty, comprised of world’s leading academics and supply chain industry experts.

  Xiaoyan WANG
Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer

Xiaoyan Wang, senior vice president at Lenovo, was appointed chief information officer in March 2009. She is responsible for Lenovo's information technology strategy and operations including all aspects of Lenovo's global IT infrastructure, business applications development, support and maintenance, as well as information service delivery and security. Under Ms. Wang’s leadership, the Information Technology organization is working closely with Lenovo’s internal business partners in designing IT strategies, processes and architecture to support Lenovo’s Think, Idea, mature and emerging market segments.

Ms. Wang joined Lenovo in 1994 and has held several posts including chief administrative officer heading corporate functions such as Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, and corporate administration. She has also led various technical service organizations at Lenovo. Ms. Wang was part of the team that worked on the groundbreaking Lenovo’s acquisition of IBM’s PC business. Prior to Lenovo, she worked in various areas including R&D engineering, technical service and project management.

Ms. Wang holds a master’s degree of science in mechanical technology and automation from Beijing Institute of Technology, and an EMBA from China-Europe International Business School (CEIBS).

In 1999, Ms. Wang was honored by the Chinese Academy of Science as one of its “Outstanding Women.” Ms. Wang is also a trustee of the CEIBS Education Charity organization, which provides financial support for the education of underprivileged children.

  WONG Wai Ming

Wong Wai Ming is senior vice president and chief financial officer of Lenovo. Prior to his current role, Mr. Wong was an independent non-executive director of the company since 1999. He has more than 15 years of experience in investment banking and was a member of the Listing Committee of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong, Limited.

Mr. Wong holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Sciences from the Victoria University of Manchester, U.K. He is a member of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
