Richie Davis leads the film as RICHIE BLOOM. | Davis enjoys a successful career as a highly sought-after live performer and studio musician in his native Chicago. He is also director Andrew Davis's younger brother. He is a founding member of the Chicago Catz, the super-charged R&B; band that has become a Chicago institution. He has recorded with Bobby Womack, Gladys Knight, Mavis Staples, J.T. Taylor (Kool & the Gang), Angela Bofill, Billy Preston, Patrice Rushen, Grand Master Flash, Mariah Carrey, Do or Die, and Twista. Richie was also a member of Maxx Traxx. He has written and produced music for the films Above The Law, Under Siege, The Package, A Perfect Murder, Holes, and The Guardian.

KEVIN TUCKER is played by Edward "Stoney" Robinson | STONY ISLAND was the breakthrough in Robinson's long struggle for musical recognition. Robinson began singing professionally on Army bases when he was just thirteen years old and developed into a mature jazz, blues and soul singer. Tragically, Robinson died of natural causes in May 1979, shortly after filming was completed.

HAROLD TATE is played by George Englund | The son of actress Cloris Leachman and television producer George Englund Sr., STONY ISLAND was Englund's first film performance. He is now a producer in the entertainment industry and still loves to write music and play his saxophone.

Saxophone legend Gene Barge is PERCY PRICE. | Barge was the inspiration for the Stony Island Band. An accomplished touring and session musician, Barge was Natalie Cole's producer and arranger during her successful run in the 1970's and even won a Grammy for co-producing her album, "Sophisticated Lady." He was a staff producer at Chicago's Chess Records during the Chess heyday and is also known as band member "Daddy G" of Gary US Bonds fame. Gene has toured with the Rolling Stones and played with and produced for Muddy Waters and Buddy Guy among others. He currently sings and plays regularly in Chicago with "The Chicago R&B; Kings", a band he records with and produces.

Backup singer JANETTA is played by Rae Dawn Chong. | STONY ISLAND launched her screen career. Chong went on to star in the films Quest for Fire, Commando, Soul Man, The Color Purple, and many more feature films and television shows. She is also an active volunteer for many charities, strongly supporting Habitat for Humanity and Byron Katie's work with inmates in prisons. She is the daughter of comedian Tommy Chong of Cheech & Chong fame.

THE FARM GIRL LUCIE is played by Susanna Hoffs. | Before the chart-topping hits such as "Manic Monday" and "Walk Like an Egyptian", written and performed with The Bangles, Susanna was a part of Stony Island as an actress and crew member. She has continued her successful musical career as a solo artist releasing two albums in the 90's. She is married to and works with film director, Jay Roach (Austin Powers, Meet the Parents), is a mother, and still performs. She is also the daughter of the film's co-writer and co-producer, Tamar Hoffs.

The legendary New Orleans musician Ronnie Barron plays RONNIE ROOSEVELT | A child protégé of Little Richard, Barron produced, played piano and recorded with Dr. John, Ry Cooder, Eric Burdon & The Animals, Tom Waits, John Mayall, Louis Prima, Paul Butterfield, Canned Heat and Delaney and Bonnie. He appeared in Andrew Davis's Code of Silence and Above the Law before passing away in 1997.

Dennis Franz is JERRY DOMINO | The multiple Emmy Award-winning star of the hit NBC series "NYPD Blue" began his acting career in STONY ISLAND. He went on to star in the hit television series "Hill Street Blues" and has also appeared in such feature films as City of Angels, American Buffalo, and Die Hard 2.

ALDERMAN WALLER is played by Oscar Brown Jr. | Born and raised on Chicago's south side, Oscar Brown Jr. started his music career as a Jazz vocalist at age 15. After Mahalia Jackson recorded one of his songs, Oscar quickly rose to prominence, recording with Max Roach, Nina Simone, Mel Torme, Cannonball Adderly, among countless others. In addition to his acclaimed composing and recording career of over 1000 songs and a dozen musicals, Oscar Brown Jr. made frequent television appearances. He is also known for his work as a humanitarian.

ADLERMAN'S YES MAN is played by Meshach Taylor | Meshach is best known for his recurring role on "Designing Women" and has appeared in many other television shows and feature films, including Mannequin and Mannequin II. Most recently he played Mr. Wilson in "Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide" on Nickelodeon.

LARRY is played by Larry Ball | Larry Ball is an accomplished bass player and musical arranger, originally from Chicago's West Side. At the age of 20 he was touring with Paul Simon. Ball is most recognized for his involvement with the Smokey Robinson Band for 20 years and has worked with artists such as Natalie Cole and Ahmad Jamal. Additionally, he was musical director for the stage versions of The Wiz and Ain't Misbehavin'.

WINDY is played by Windy Barnes | Ms. Barnes' incredible vocal talents move effortlessly from jazz, to pop, to R & B, to gospel. As a featured singer, Barnes has been embraced internationally while working with legends such as Stevie Wonder, Julio Iglesias, Michael Bolton, Anita Baker, Billy Preston, and countless others.

DONNELL is played by Donnell Hagen | The Stony Island band's drummer has recorded with the finest R&B; and Soul artists around. He is credited with the unique rhythm track for Marvin Gaye's "Sexual Healing."

TENNYSON is played by Tennyson Stephens | Pianist, vocalist, composer and teacher whose capabilities run the gamut from Broadway fare to Jazz to Gospel to R&B; was a student of the late great Mr. Erroll Garner. Tennyson has performed internationally with such stars as Bill Cosby, Jack Jones, Aretha Franklin, Michael Franks and The Supremes. He was a regular at the lounge at New York's famous Copacabana and aboard the QE2. His recording history includes performances with Natalie Cole, Nancy Wilson, Gene Ammons, Phil Upchurch and Sonny Stitt.

GUITAR PLAYER is played by Phil Upchurch | Upchurch has performed and recorded with a who-is-who of contemporary music, including George Benson on his smash hit album "Breezin'". Phil began playing in R&B; bands, including for The Kool Gents, The Dells, and The Spaniels. He eventually formed the Phil Upchurch Combo, and his song You Can't Sit Down reached the US Top 30 in 1961 and the UK Top 40 on its reissue five years later. Upchurch later appeared on albums by Bo Diddley, Muddy Waters, Jimmy Reed and Howlin' Wolf. In the 1970s Upchurch appeared on several fusion albums, including Grover Washington, and The Crusaders. He has also collaborated with Chaka Khan, Booker T. Jones, Quincy Jones, and Michael Jackson. Upchurch received a Pioneer Award from the Rhythm and Blues Foundation in 1997.

LEWIS MOSS is played by Nathan Davis | Born in Chicago in 1917, Nate was a member of the Chicago Repertory Group during the 30's, doing socially conscious theater. Nate went on to have a wonderful career, performing in theater, film, and television. Some highlights were: a Jefferson Lifetime Achievement Award and three best actor Jeff nominations for Buried Child (Northlight), The Sunshine Boys (National Jewish Theater), and 2 1/2 Jews (Apple Tree Theater). Nate also played Grandpa Joad in Steppenwolf's Tony award winning company of John Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath, and Gaston in Steve Martin's Picasso at the Lapin Agile. One of Nate's many film roles was that of Shia LaBeouf's grandpa in his son Andrew's film Holes.

MR. MOSS'S HONEY is played by Natalija Nogulich | Natalija received her B.A. from Lake Forest College where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa, and went on to study and work with David Mamet at his St. Nicholas Theatre Company in Chicago. Ms. Nogulich has a vast film and theater resume and is a produced playwright and novelist. Best-known for appearances on Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, she portrayed Josephine Hoffa, wife of Jack Nicholson's character in the film Hoffa and provided the voice of Mon Mothma for the radio adaptation of Return of the Jedi. STONY ISLAND was her first feature film.
