Dickens’ classic tale of triumph against adversity in matters of love and fortune is brought back to the big screen in ‘Great Expectations’.
Starring Helena Bonham Carter (The King’s Speech) and Ralph Fiennes (The Reader), the story follows an orphan’s rise from pauper to gentleman in Victorian London, made possible by a mysterious benefactor. Winning the heart of his childhood love along the way, his new life suddenly comes under threat when the source of his money comes to light.

Well acted, adaptation lacking.....
It is however well acted, young Pip and Fiennes' Magwitch being the highlights.
