Age of Empires advances on Nintendo DS

Age of Empires will once again be coming to the Nintendo DS, when Age of Empires: Mythologies is released this Fall.

THQ has announced that it will be bringing the Age of Empires series to the Nintendo DS for the second time. Age of Empires: Mythologies will build upon the groundwork laid by 2006's Age of Kings, using the same game engine and featuring similar, turn-based combat.

The new title will have three playable factions taken from Norse, Greek, and Egyptian mythologies. Each faction will have its own unique single-player campaign, and the game features an all-new active combat system. In addition, Mythologies will have a strong focus on multiplayer, and will feature unique multiplayer maps, customizable rules, a brand new skirmish mode, as well as single-cart game sharing.

Hopefully, with a new developer, Griptonite Games, behind the game, Mythologies won't suffer from the number of technical issues that plagued the series' first DS outing. Expect to see Mythologies in Fall 2008.
