KIM Kardashian says her heart is "completely broken" but her current squeeze Kanye, nor former husband Kris Humphries are to blame.

The reality star's beloved kitten Mercy has passed away.

The much-photographed and Instagrammed cat died from a rare form of stomach cancer which caused her stomach to fill with fluid.

Doctors advised that there was nothing they could do and the kitten died at just four months old.

"It is with deep sadness that I have to tell you all that my kitten, Mercy, has passed away," Kardashian wrote on her official blog. "My heart is completely broken."

The reality star was given the cat by her boyfriend Kanye West, which was named after one of his songs.

But avid followers of Kardashian would have noticed that she was without cat for a few months prior to her death.

The reality star says she discovered she was allergic to the pet and was forced to find her a new home with Khloe's assistant, Sydney.

"I had fallen SO in love with Mercy that I wanted to try everything I could to keep her, but I didn’t think it was safe to resort to injections, and it wasn’t fair on Mercy, because I couldn’t play with her or give her as much attention as I wanted to," the 32-year-old wrote.

"Mercy was a gentle and loving kitten and we are all going to miss her so much. Thanks to Sydney for making Mercy’s short life one filled with love. RIP Mercy Xo"
