TREBLE winners Kelantan and Selangor will both fancy their chances of making it to the knockout stage of the 2013 AFC Cup after being handed favourable draws for the group stage in Bukit Jalil yesterday.
Kelantan, who reached this year's quarter-finals before being beaten by Iraq's Arbil 6-2 on aggregate, drew Myanmar Cup winners Ayeyawady United, Vietnam League champions Da Nang and Maldives FA Cup winners Maziya in Group G.
Ayeyawady were also drawn in Kelantan's group this year with the Malaysia Cup, Super League and FA Cup champions winning 1-0 in Kota Baru after losing away 3-1.
Kelantan have signed Australian striker Dimitri Petratos and Croatian defender Lek Kcira for their AFC Cup campaign in addition to Nigerian defender Obinna Nwaneri and striker Keita Mandjou of Guinea, who have been retained for Kelantan's domestic challenge.
Selangor will be making their third appearance in the tournament after finishing third in the Super League behind Kelantan and LionsXII, who are ineligible for the AFC Cup as they play in Malaysia on an invitational basis.
Coach Irfan Bakti Abu Salim's side will be looking to match or better their 2006 quarter-final run after being drawn in Group H with S-League champions Tampines Rovers, Indian League runners-up and Cup winners East Bengal and Vietnamese Cup champions Saigon Xuan Thanh. By Devinder Singh
