Put this Campanile print on your wall today
This summer when my daughter was home from college, I met her one day at UC Berkeley. The plan was to do some walking, talking and photography then, meetup with her older brother, Ryan, who was in class. Not a great day for photography because the sky was blue and cloudless, so I had to resort to finding other ways to make photos that day.
The Campanile
Funny name for a bell tower, don’t you think? I never have given it a second thought until I wrote those words. Growing up in Berkeley, the Campanile was a fixture that I just took for granted. By the way, if you’re not from around here it’s pronounced: camp-a-knee’-lee. What is that, Italian? Maybe french. It seems that so many of the funny named things here are french.
I ended up making a black & white photo of the Campanile while standing at the base and looking straight up into the sun.
And a few steps away, from the entrance of one of the older buildings on the campus, this shot of the landmark which can be seen pretty much from everywhere in Berkeley.
