Open mHealth - Integrating mHealth Apps & Devices to Enable Better Health
Tuesday, December 4, 2012 - 5:00 - 6:15 PM

Session Overview

Imagine a world where a Type 1 diabetic can integrate their activity/mobility, glucometer, and weight data and get the insights they need to manage their condition before it’s too late. Or a world where a person with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is able to share with their clinician--in real-time--their mood, behavior and medication data so they can collaboratively get to a richer, data-driven view of how they’re improving between clinical visits.

This world is not far away.

Come join Open mHealth and the RWJF's Pioneer Portfolio in an interactive panel as two patients--one with Type 1 diabetes and one with PTSD--share their own integrated data view. We will be asking health innovators like Ginger.io, Intel, Microsoft, Kaiser Permanente, the Veteran Affairs (and more!) 20 questions how they are connecting to the data integrations for diabetes and PTSD using the Open mHealth architecture.

Session Objectives

  • Demonstrate the power of open architecture for integrating apps and devices, illustrated from the technical, clinical, and patient perspectives in two disease domains: Type 1 diabetes and PTSD
  • Show how Open mHealth is breaking the barriers between health and tech through partnerships with organizations like: Runkeeper, Qualcomm, Kaiser Permanente, Veteran Affairs, Ginger.io and more
  • Paint a roadmap for the future of mobile health app integration and interoperability
