Description
Sandcrawlers are huge treaded fortresses used by Jawas as transportation and shelter. The sand-pitted vehicles, many meters in height, are equipped with a magnetic suction tube for sucking droids and scrap into their cargo chambers.

The native Jawas of Tatooine live and work aboard the massive lumbering sandcrawlers, traveling to moisture farms on the outskirts of the desert planet's few permanent settlements, offering refurbished machinery for sale or trade.
C-3PO
C-3PO suffered the indignity of capture aboard a sandcrawler. While roaming the Dune Sea of Tatooine, Threepio flagged down a transport, mistakenly believing that it would be his salvation.
R2-D2
R2-D2 was captured by a Jawa hunting party while he trekked across the Tatooine deserts, seeking out Obi-Wan Kenobi. The Jawas immobilized the little droid with an ionization blast, affixed a restraining bolt on his casing, and slurped the astromech into their sandcrawler through a magnetic suction tube.
Stormtroopers
A team of Imperial desert Stormtroopers, tasked to find fugitive Rebel droids, discovered a Jawa sandcrawler that had captured and sold C-3PO and R2-D2. The troopers blasted the sandcrawler, but disguised their attack with bantha tracks and discarded gaffi sticks to make it appear that Tusken Raiders had done the dirty work.
