Sunlight Foundation Staff
Emily Shaw is the National Policy Manager at the Sunlight Foundation and oversees its state and local policy work. She holds a Ph.D. in political science from the University of California, Berkeley and a B.A. from Brown University. She most recently served as an assistant professor of political science at Thomas College in Waterville, Maine. In the past she has worked for a range of civil and human rights organizations including Human Rights Watch, the ACLU, the American Friends Service Committee and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. Her recent writing and speaking has focused on issues of voting policy, municipal tax policy, and campaign finance, and as a result she is a regular and enthusiastic user of open government data.
