MORE than 80 people were arrested for drug possession at today's Summadayze music festival.

Police arrested 77 men and seven women during their sniffer dog operation at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl, with six people bailed on drug charges.

A further 70 people were given drug diversions and seven were cautioned for possessing cannabis.

Police seized ecstasy, amphetamines and cannabis during the operation.

Senior Sgt Mark Pilkington said revellers continued to ignore the risks of drug use, despite repeated warnings.

“These drugs are dangerous, they are manufactured by criminals with no regard to peoples' safety.

“By conducting these operations, we are attempting to limit the effects drugs have on society,” Sen Sgt Pilkington said.
