Deep Space Maneuver for Juno

NASA’s Juno spacecraft executed a second Deep Space Maneuver on the14th of September 2012. The burn occurred when Juno was more than 480 million kilometersĀ  away from Earth and was completed as planned. A complete report on the maneuver is available on line.

Juno Spacecraft Images Big Dipper

Launched on Aug. 5, 2011, the solar-powered Juno spacecraft is 279 days and 612 million kilometers into its five-year journey to Jupiter.
On March 21 2012, to certify the camera in flight, Juno’s mission planners took a page from their childhood and aimed their camera at the big dipper.

Juno launched

On Friday, August 5, 2011, NASA’s solar-powered Juno spacecraft lifted off from Cape Canaveral in Florida at 9:25 a.m. PDT to begin its five-year journey to Jupiter. Onboard, the italian spectrometer Jiram. Read more about the launch on NASA website. Read the news on INAF website (in italian).

Welcome to Juno-Jiram website

This website is dedicated to the Jiram instrument onboard of the Juno NASA mission. Jiram stands for Jovian Infrared Auroral Mapper. It is an image spectrometer that will explore Jupiter, developed by scientists from IFSI and IASF Institutes of the Italian National Institute for Astrophysics (INAF) andĀ  funded by the Italian Space Agency (ASI). The prime contractor for the hardware development is Selex Galileo.
