Today 15 million Kenyans use their mobile phones to transfer money through a system called M-Pesa. From big cities to rural farmlands, a person can buy a loaf of bread or lend money to a friend in need – all through their mobile phones. So we ask: is this technology taking off in other countries? Is it an example of ‘low tech’ outfoxing ‘high tech’?
