I would like to welcome you to the website of Nketoana Local Municipality. Nketoana Local Municipality is named after the Leibenbergsvlei River. Nketoana Local Municipality is made up of four small towns which are:

• Reitz
  Reitz was founded in 1889 and it was originally called Amsterdam but it was later named after former president Reitz. This place is a home of largest farmer co-operatives and the surrounding farms produces mainly maize, wheat and cattles and it is known for its famous bielie mielie festival that takes place each year during the second week of February. Reitz is situated in the eastern Free State, just about 2 hours from Johannesburg.
• Petrus Steyn
  Petrus Steyn is a small town between Reitz and Heilbron on the R57 road. The accessible location of Petrus Steyn makes it ideal to develop the tourist potential of the town. There are various festivals held annually, including the sunflower festival and these are supported by country accommoda¬tion in the local hotel and guesthouse. Other attractions include three game farms as well as the renowned Kruis¬pad Missionary Church.
• Lindley
  Lindley was laid out in 1875 on the farm Brandhoek and proclaimed a town in 1878. Lindley is named after a missionary, Daniel Lindley, an American Presbyterian minister of the Voortrekkers. Attractions in this town include the Riemland Kuierfees which is held annually and the Lindley film festival.
• Arlington
  Arlington is situated next to the intersection of the major road between Lindley and Senekal. The railway line between Bethlehem and Steynsrus runs through the town and played an important role in the founding of Arlington. Currently the railway line still has an important economical function in the development of the town.
