Meet The Sports Development Team


Here is a brief introduction to the staff who work in the Sports Development Service, providing assistance, advice, guidance and practical support for sports within the area.

Mark Cullum - Development Manager (Sports & Arts)

Mark's main role is managing the work of the Sports and Arts Development Unit. In addition to this he leads on strategic projects aimed at improving access and opportunities for local people to become involved in sport and active recreation. Rob Allison - Principle Sports Development Officer


Rob is responsible for the development of community sport and recreational opportunities for identified target groups such as disability sports clubs, ethnic minority groups and community groups in socially deprived areas, for young and older participants. He is responsible for managing and developing funding applications for community based projects. Email rob.allison@nelincs.gov.uk or call 01472 323347.

Louise Smith - Senior Sports Development Officer

Louise is responsible for leading working with our partnerships on behalf of the Sports Development Unit. These partnerships include the Humber Sports Partnership, School Sport Partnership and North East Lincolnshire Sports Association. Louise works with clubs, development groups and leagues to support them in developing. This role also includes developing coaches through an annual programme of training opportunities. Louise coordinates the Sports Holiday Activities programme, supports the development of the Playing Pitch Strategy; including the latest developments to Bradley Playing Pitches, manages the Active Clubs and Active Coaches schemes.  Email louise.smith@nelincs.gov.uk or call 01472 323379.


Amy Liddy - Sports Development Officer (Volunteers)

Amy is responsible for increasing the total number of people involved in volunteering within North East Lincolnshire. This involves working with schools and further education establishments to get more young people involved in leadership through the Step Into Sport Programme. Fay Whall- Sports Development Officer (Positive Futures)

Fay is responsible for development, support and managing the implementation of the Positive Futures Project. The project aims to engage young people who are "at risk" of becoming involved in Youth Crime, Anti Social Behaviour and Substance Misuse, through the use of Sport and other Positive Activities. Email fay.whall@nelincs.gov.uk of call 01472 323389


Lucy Johnston- Sports Development Officer (Disabilities)

Lucy is responsible for increasing participation in Disability Sports across North East Lincolnshire. She also works in promoting and developing Disability Sports Clubs. Lucy will form links with partner organisations within North East Lincolnshire to develop and support ongoing activities. Lucy ensures the team has strong working partnerships with other disability sports organisations, pulling together resources and the sharing of good practice across North East Lincolnshire.  Email lucy.johnston@nelincs.gov.uk or call 01472 323346


Telle Medhurst- Trainee Sports Development Officer

Telle provides a variety of admin support to the whole team and is involved in the development of many Sports Development lead projects, activities and events including; The Annual NELSA awards evening, The Fair Play Football League, the ongoing support of the Active Coaches and Clubs Association, the Holiday Activities Programme, Disability Sports Taster Days, the Girls Football League and the coordination of Sports Volunteering opportunities.  Email telle.medhurst@nelincs.gov.uk or call 01472 323349


Pete Allison - Community Sports Coach (Multi - Sports)

Pete is responsible for delivering and monitoring a co-ordinated programme of sporting and physical activities that meet the needs of those in North East Lincolnshire, particularly young people. The programme may include coaching, leading or facilitating sporting activities based within a variety of community settings, including school and holiday programmes. Paul Goodhand - Community Sports Coach (Multi - Sports)

Paul is responsible for delivering and monitoring a co-ordinated programme of sporting and physical activities that meet the needs of those in North East Lincolnshire, particularly young people. David Soames - Community Sports Coach (Equalities)

David is responsible for delivering and monitoring a co-ordinated programme of sporting and physical activities that meet the needs of those in North East Lincolnshire over the age of 45. Paul Thorpe - Community Sports Coach

Paul is responsible for delivering and monitoring a specialist programme around involving young people who are at risk of committing Anti Social Behaviour, Youth Crime and who may be at risk of drug and alcohol misuse. Matthew Payne - Community Sports Coach (Positive Futures)

Mat is responsible for delivering and monitoring a co-ordinated programme of football activities that meet the needs of those involved in the Positive Futures project. Jonathan Westerman - Community Sports Coach (Positive Futures)

Jon has developed through the Positive Futures Project from Participant to Volunteer to Casual Coach and now as an Apprentice. Jon assists with the delivery and monitoring of the Positive Futures project which comprises of football coaching sessions for young people aged 10 - 19 years. Scott Downey - Community Sports Coach (Positive Futures)
