PRIVACY POLICY

1. Edizioni Condé Nast S.p.A., with offices in Milan, piazza Castello n. 27 (hereafter "Condé Nast") has drawn up this privacy policy, according to article 13 of legislative decree n. 196 of June 30, 2003 (hereafter "Data Protection Code"), in order to describe the policies and the procedures adopted for the management of the web site at the domain www.vogue.it (hereafter "Web Site" or "Site") and the services made available through the Web Site and shows, ­initiatives, events, etc. organised by Condé Nast (hereafter "Services"), with regard to the collection and use of the personal data of the people who make use of the Web Site and/or the Services (hereafter "Users").

 

COLLECTION OF PERSONAL DATA

Registration to the Community

2. At some areas of the Web Site or on the occasion of the use of some Services, the User is invited to join the Vogue.it community (hereafter "Community") in order to have access to certain services and privileges reserved to registered Users.
The Community is managed by Condé Nast through a newsletter service - that is sent periodically via email to the address provided by the User - that is used by Condé Nast to keep all registered Users up to date with regard to the exclusive initiatives that Condé Nast will make accessible to registered Users only, such as prize contests, blogs, forums, chat rooms, invitations, etc. (hereafter "Newsletter"). The Newsletter may include banners, promos and other commercials from Condé Nast or third parties.
Upon registering to the Community, the User is required to provide certain information, some of which - expressly indicated as such - are essential and mandatory for the registration (e.g. the e-mail address to be used to receive the Newsletter), while other information may be provided or not, at the User's discretion. Should such further information not be provided, the User still will be able to join the Community, but will not be able to participate to certain activities, and will only have a limited access to some Services. For example, the Users who do not provide their cell-phone number will not be invited via SMS to premieres and events and will not be able to participate to prize contests nor join games, polls or others carried on through SMS, MMS and alike. The same Users will not receive ring tones, logos, wallpapers and other multimedia contents for cell-phones nor commercial offers, discounts, information on Condé Nast's and its partners' promotions conveyed through mobile phones.
The User may combine an image (so called "avatar") to his profile and express preferences and decide which information to make publicly available and which to keep confidential from other Users.
Any time the User may modify or edit his profile and his preferences concerning data protection, and, where so permitted by Condé Nast, he may also provide further personal details that are necessary to participate to activities of the Web Site.

Access to the Web Site and use of the "cookies"

3. Any time the User visits the Web Site, the Site server uses "cookies" to automatically register some information concerning the access of the User, such as: his ISP, web site of origin, web pages viewed, date and duration of the access, etc. Such pieces of information are registered anonymously and used only for enabling the access to the Web Site of the User and the use of some Services by the User. After these operations are carried out, all information are deleted or used in aggregate for statistic purposes, or to assess which sections of the Web Site are the most viewed and which Services the most used.
At the same time the opinions and the preferences of the Users expressed during a contest, an opinion poll or alike are used by Condé Nast in aggregate only while never individually nor to profile Users.

Third parties' data

4. At certain areas of the Web Site Users may be enabled to send articles, messages, gadgets or presents to third parties; at such areas Users may be requested to digit the address and/or the name of the recipient of said materials. Condé Nast makes use of such data only to give follow to Users' requests and than delete the data from its database, without making any other use of them.

Cookies

5. The cookies used by Condé Nast are text files that the Site automatically sends to the User's personal computer to facilitate the User's experience of the Web Site. The cookies also help the Site to recognize the registered User and, for example, avoid that a registered User has to log-in at every access to the Site. The cookies finally enable Users to customize their experience of the Web Site and save their preferences.
As outlined above, the cookies enables Condé Nast to register some information pertaining to Users and their visit of the Web Site; being this information registered in aggregate, such feature of the cookies does not interfere with Users' right to privacy.
Although by default most browsers are set up to accept cookies, Users can at any time set their browser so as to refuse all cookies or indicate when a cookie can be sent. Condé Nast encourages Users to check on the cookies settings of their browsers, and set them in a way that satisfies their expectations. Notwithstanding the foregoing, some sections of the Web Site may not work properly when Users disable reception of cookies (in such cases Users will be notified accordingly).

 

PURPOSES AND MODALITIES OF THE PROCESSING

Storage of data and access to them

6. In its capacity as owner of the database, Condé Nast stores the personal data of Users, directly or through the data processors listed on the Web Site, on the web servers located at the premises of Infracom, via Caldera, 21 - 20153 Milano. All processing operations are carried out through the personnel of Condé Nast and the data processors - such personnel is duly appointed "persons in charge of the processing" - or other personnel of external entities in charge of the maintenance of the Web Site.
The database is accessible only by authorized personnel through equipments and devices that guarantee the respect of the standard security measures adopted by Condé Nast and that prevent the dissemination, the illicit use and other non authorized use of the data.
Any and all people in charge of the processing are bound to faithfully observe the specific instructions given by Condé Nast with regard to the processing of data; any breach of such instructions can be punished with disciplinary measures or give raise to judicial actions.
The data are stored for the time strictly needed to carry out any processing operation that concerns any User, according to his own preferences and instructions.

Processing of data: general features

7. Condé Nast processes the data of Users in accordance with the individual options of any User and with the consent that is given freely and specifically upon the collection of data or subsequently.
Certain data are used without the prior consent of Users - in accordance with article 24 of the Data Protection Code - to duly fulfil a request of the User. For example the telephone numbers of the participants to a contest may be used to inform them of the outcome of the contest.
In compliance with the Data Protection Code, article 58 par. 2 of Legislative Decree September 6, 2005 n. 206 and article 19bis of Law Decree December 30, 2005 n. 273 - as later amended - the data of Users are used by Condé Nast - until and unless the User objects to such use - through electronic means or devices that enable the one-to-one communication - for the mailing of promotional materials, for direct marketing campaigns or mailings, market researches.

Processing operations subject to the consent of Users

8. Only the data of those Users who have given their specific consent are processed by Condé Nast for the same purposes listed under article 7 above by making use of automatic means with no intervention of any personnel or for the other purposes from time to time expressly authorised by Users. At the same time, only with the express consent of the User Condé Nast communicates the data to or shares them with its commercial partners - a list of which is available on the Web Site - at the purpose of letting such partners process such data - in their quality of independent data controller - for the same scopes and with the same modalities described above. The data of Users are never disseminated, save for those data which are directly posted or uploaded by Users on the common areas of the Web Site.
Condé Nast recommends Users to refrain from posting / uploading their personal data on the common areas of the Web Site, and reserves its right to delete such data or make them anonymous in case they fall within the definition of "sensitive data" given by article 4 section 1 letter d) of the Data Protection Code. Condé Nast may finally disclose information of Users in response to a law enforcement agency's request in case of alleged infringements of third parties' rights, or in case of administrative or criminal offences.

 

RIGHTS OF USERS

9. In accordance with article 7 of Data Protection Code, the User is entitled to any time modify and edit his own preferences and settings concerning data protection, as well as to obtain information as to: whether or not personal data concerning him are held by Condé Nast, the source of the data, their details, the purposes and methods of the processing.
Users may also obtain the updating, rectification and/or integration of such data, or the erasure or blocking of those data processed unlawfully. Users have the right to object, for legitimate grounds, to the processing of their data and not to be the recipient of promotional materials, direct marketing campaigns or mailings, market researches. UNDERAGE USERS

10. Condé Nast is aware that underage Users may be interested in the Web Site and the Services.
Condé Nast recommends parents to monitor their children's use of the Internet, also by using parental control tools, in order to guarantee a safe and filtered use the contents available in the web.
The use of such tools can prevent children from disclosing online personal information without parental permission and can guarantee a child/teenage-friendly online environment.
Condé Nast doesn't collect nor use personal data of underage Users without the previous consent of their parents.
The registration to the Community is reserved to Users of 18 years of age or more, or to Users older than 14 who have parental consent.
Condé Nast encourages the parents of registered Users to register themselves to the Community: by doing so, the parents will be able to enjoy the Services and, at the same time, to be informed of the activities and initiatives offered by Condé Nast to their sons and daughters and check their compliance with their own expectations and educational paths.
With regard to some Services, Condé Nast does not require Users to disclose their age and hence Condé Nast does not know anything about the age of Users. Condé Nast expressly invites all Users younger than 18 not to disclose any personal data without the consent of the parents, reserving its right to deny access to the Services and/or the Community to those underage Users who misrepresent their age or disclose their personal data without the previous parental consent.

 

LINKS TO WEB SITES OF THIRD PARTIES

11. Some areas of the Web Site and/or the communication that Condé Nast sends to Users may contain links to third party web-sites.
Users are informed that by adhering to the offers of such third parties they will enter into an agreement with such parties, who are not bound by this privacy policy and over which Condé Nast does not have any kind of control.
Users are therefore invited to disclose their personal data only to those entities which guarantee appropriate security standards. Condé Nast also recommends to adhere to the offers of such third parties only after checking carefully the content of their offer, with regard to which Condé Nast cannot perform any kind of control nor be held liable.

 

AMENDMENTS TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

12. Being said that Condé Nast does not use nor disclose any personal information of Users for any purpose other than those expressly authorised by Users, this privacy policy can be amended from time to time to comply with new law provisions or new policies of Condé Nast.
Any changes to the privacy policy will be uploaded on the Web Site: Condé Nast therefore invites all Users to regularly check on the Web Site in order to be fully informed of the latest release of the policy.
