NITLE Geospatial Studies

When we visualize data, we interpret the world and influence those around us. Visualizing data is a powerful, creative act, and—with geospatial technologies now easier to use, more accessible, and more interactive than ever—it is becoming increasingly popular as a way to communicate and convince. At the same time, our ability to collect massive amounts of geo-located data is expanding, challenging traditional notions of academic inquiry and research. NITLE’s geospatial studies initiative focuses on converting these developments into opportunities for engaging students and helping colleges promote the interdisciplinary literacies and abilities students need to understand, create, work, and contribute in a world shaped by data.
