Directed and produced by Mike Lerner and Maxim Pozdorovkin, “Pussy Riot” tells the story of the three young members of the feminist art collective Pussy Riot who were arrested on charges of religious hatred after they performed a "punk prayer" inside Russia's main cathedral last year. The case caused outrage in many corners around the world.
Cinetic Media negotiated the deal for the filmmakers. Goldcrest Films International is handling foreign sales.
The "Pussy Riot" doc is the fifth to find a home since the 2013 festival began Thursday. Sundance Selects picked up North American rights to “The Summit” and “Dirty Wars,” Showtime grabbed “History of the Eagles” and RADiUS-TWC acquired “Twenty Feet From Stardom” Friday.
