British Bangladeshi Power List 2013
Yesterday saw the launch of the most influential list of British Bangladeshis that has ever been put together. Supported by the Mayor of London Boris Johnson and Sebastian Coe the power list referred to as BBPower100 celebrates talented individuals from the world of business, politics, medicine, finance, the media, culture and sport.
Among those recognised are television news reader Nina Hossain (pictured) who presents ITV’s London Tonight, boxing champion Ruqsana Begum, singer Mumzy Stranger in the under 30’s category and restauranteer Atique Choudhary whose Thai restaurant recently won an Asian Curry Award.
The list was founded by Abdal Ullah, who was the first British Bangladeshi to serve on the Metropolitan Police Authority and is an elected councillor in Tower Hamlets.
The list also includes a tribute to those who were involved in the London 2012 games such as torch bearers and choreographer Akram Khan who performed in the opening ceremony.
