Gemma Arterton Nominated for 2011 BAFTA Rising Star Award

Congratulations to RADA graduate, Gemma Arterton, who has been nominated for the prestigious Orange Wednesdays Rising Star Award.

The Award, now in its sixth year, was set up to honor BAFTA winning casting director, Mary Selway, who sadly died in 2004.  The award is designed to celebrate the best new international acting talent in the film industry, aiming to identify the nation’s next most popular performer,  and is unique in being the only BAFTA award to be voted for by the general public.  Kristen Steward won the award last year after demonstrating her talent and potential in the international cult film series, the Twilight Saga.

Gemma graduated from RADA in 2008 and has since established herself as a true rising star, featuring in a diverse range of films including Quantum of Solace, The Disappearance of Alice Creed and Tamara Drewe.  Her fellow nominees are Andrew Garfield, Tom Hardy, Aaron Johnson and Emma Stone.

Fingers crossed she’ll follow in the footstep of fellow Bond Girl, Eva Green, who won the award in 2007.
