Ryan (Kupe House), said, “It has been a dream come true”.
He began his triathlon career when he was in Years 11 and 12 and won the New Zealand Schools’ Triathlon in Year 13.
“I then decided the Olympics was for me”.
“I went to university to study PE teaching and completed two years of my degree until I decided I wanted to follow my dreams of going to the Olympics and I then decided to do triathlon full time.”
“It was a big decision but a decision I will never regret. Being able to say that at 24 years old I am an Olympian is something I will cherish for life and I am thankful for everyone who helped me along the way, including the great multisport club we had a Macleans College during my years at the school.”
Ryan will compete on 7 August and he will then return to summer training in mountains in France.
