'Vampire Diaries' Season 5, 'Supernatural' Season 9, and 'Arrow' Season 2 picked up by The CW

supernatural-vampire-diaries-arrow.jpgIt's official: The CW has made early pick-ups for its three most successful shows, guaranteeing that we'll be watching "The Vampire Diaries," "Supernatural," and "Arrow" in the 2012-2014 season.

This will mark Season 5 for "The Vampire Diaries," Season 9 for "Supernatural," and Season 2 for "Arrow," which has been The CW's undeniable breakout hit of the season.

"We said last year that one of our goals was to establish building blocks to grow on, and now with our new hit 'Arrow' and fan favorite 'Supernatural' on Wednesday night, and the continued success of 'The Vampire Diaries' on Thursday, we've been able to do that," says CW president Mark Pedowitz in a statement.

"Not only do 'Arrow,' 'Supernatural,' and 'The Vampire Diaries' perform well on-air, they're also extremely successful for us both digitally and socially. I'm thrilled to have all three shows returning to our schedule next season," he continues.

"Arrow," which debuted with 4.3 million viewers, is currently the network's most-watched show. "The Vampire Diaries" is The CW's best performer when it comes to the target demographics of adults and women between the ages of 18-34. The network also boasts that since pairing with "Arrow" and being moved out of the Friday wasteland, "Supernatural" 15% among total viewers, 10% in adults 18-34 and 18% in adults 18-49. That's a dramatic ratings increase almost unheard of, especially for a show in its eighth season.
