The Naples Winter Wine Festival is set for Jan. 25-27, 2013 in Naples. The theme for the 2013 festival is When Stars Align.

How wine helps children

The festival has raised $107 million for underprivileged and at-risk children since 2001. Naples Winter Wine Festival proceeds have helped 150,000 children over 12 years through grants to children's charities and collaborative funding of major projects including a pediatric dental center and early learning center.

Children's mental health a focus in 2013

Health Under Guided Systems is a mental health program for Collier County children started in 2010 by a Winter Wine Festival grant. Three years after the program began, organizers have screened more than 2,500 kids in the county for mental illness. Read story »

The Naples Equestrian Challenge has launched Operation Strides. The mission: To help veterans from the Afghanistan, Iraq and Gulf wars dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury and amputation. The strategy: To help them heal with horses. Read story »

Charity: STAR

STAR (Specialized Therapeutic & Analysis Resources) is funded entirely by the Naples Children & Education Foundation. The program is provided through ABLE Academy, a local nonprofit that offers applied behavior analysis, speech therapy and schooling for children with developmental disabilities and behavior disorders, as well as other services.
