Sustainable Learning in Schools and Universities

The EarthWays Center is a leader in the field of educating for sustainability, and its staff and programs  have been a regional resource since 1988. By making materials and topics relevant to today's learner and providing interdisciplinary, hands-on instruction for audiences of all ages, the EarthWays Center promotes wise resource use through shaping students' behavior and changing school cultures.

Opportunities for Teachers

The EarthWays Center offers professional development opportunities for educators in all sectors. Most recently, teachers participated in the 2011 3R's Educator Institute and the Energy Conservation Institute, during which they traveled all over Missouri and Illinois, visiting sites to see first-hand the issues facing the energy and solid waste industries.

During June of 2011, Missouri Botanical Garden also partnered with Webster University and the Saint Louis Zoo to present the first Education for Sustainability PK-12 Midwest Summer Institute. Find a schedule for the Institute here
