Yiddish Theatre

Yiddish Theatre originated with Abraham Goldfaden in Eastern Europe in the 19th century who wrote plays for his own theatre company. Until then Purim plays had been the only form of theatre in Yiddish. Jewish migrants from Eastern Europe brought Yiddish theatre to London's East End where it flourished.
