Seems like this will be a busy week for gamers, for sure! We have FIFA 13, Tokyo Jungle and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD, all arriving this week! And that’s just some of this week’s picks.
Liberty City is calling! Grand Theft Auto III, the revolutionary open-world epic from Rockstar Games that set players loose as a small-time criminal at the bottom of the food chain, is available from the PlayStation Store from this week. Originally released in 2001 to universal acclaim, Grand Theft Auto III rewrote the possibilities for freedom and action in a living, breathing three dimensional metropolis where anything can happen – and probably will.
Elsewhere, Final Fantasy III releases on PSP this week. See where the series’ popular job system first appeared in an updated version of one of the earlier games in Square Enix’s much-loved RPG franchise.
Speaking of Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy XIII-2 DLC is on sale, too. See the store for the various DLC pieces and the discounts applied.
Oh, and a big shout out for Konami’s excellent New Little King’s Story, which arrives on Vita. Look out for more information on that here on the PlayStation Blog later this week.
PS Plus subscribers, this week you get some healthy discounts. Tokyo Jungle will have 20% bitten off for a two week period and you’ll receive a discounted DLC pack too. You also get Starhawk Campaign Mode at no cost and a variety of DLC and the soundtrack, also at no cost. What a treat, eh? Oh, and there’s Super Stardust Portable for PSP that is available at, once again, no cost! So, a busy gaming week with some nice bonuses to go around, with more PS Plus bonuses to come in the next few weeks.
Be sure to check PS Store for the latest updates on avatars, themes and DLC, but below is a large chunk of this week’s release schedule.

@ Jawad:
Hi there, Jawz! How are you? Are you ready for the usual carpet-bombing of questions?
The first one should be about Spyro in theory, but I pretty much trust he’s going to land at European airports soon enough at this point.
The second one is about a personal worry of mine. I’ve never been a fan of HD, especially the sudden supposed “need” of it. After my fears started to get confirmed with the PSP-2000′s HD-only TV support, I stumbled across a comment at a NeoGAF forum thread about Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale, where “you can not play this game at the current video display” resulted in “[f-bomb] you sony, not everyone can afford a hdtv ;-;”. The question is, does a PS3 necessarily need an HDTV? Because if I could barely afford the console, I’m sure I can’t do the same for a HDTV.

@ Jawad: (continued from previous comment)
Third and final one, what are your stances about import gaming? I’ve read a well-worded explanation about region-locking at another site (Nintendolife), what with “although everything ends up in the same money pot by the end of the day”, sales must be divided by region as a business plan”, but doesn’t it also allow companies to not localize games and, well, you know, “get away with it”? (I’m pointing my finger at Namco and Square-Enix here.)
http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2012/09/the_wii_u_is_region_locked_of_course
Thanks in advance for your answers.

No further update on Spyro since last week.
Certain games are developed with HDTVs in mind. It’s more of a development thing so not much I know about to comment on, to be honest.
Imoprt gaming impacts local regions, yes. It’s pretty easy to understand. You import from Japan for example, and then don’t buy locally. That’s effectivelly one less sale for us. Put that at a larger scale and that could mean any publisher just feeling like (due to local sales figures) that the game wasn’t successful or no longer worth investing in. So like they say, support your local market if you can.

Good work Jawad.
Just to ask:
Are the Spyro titles due next month as you have previously stated?
And presumably the Tomba! release will continue to be the first wednesday of next month? Cannot wait for that.
And is there a DLC sale due soon?
Posted on 26 September, 2012 at 2:18 pm by Jawad Ashraf
Should be. I haven’t heard anything different so far so fingers crossed!

Hey
The LBP issue last week, I still cannot download it directly from the store, only my download list. I was told I would get a refund but this never happened?
Any help?
Posted on 26 September, 2012 at 2:19 pm by Jawad Ashraf
Everyone affected should have received the refund and an e-mail. Please contact customer services to let them know. They should have a list of PSN IDs that had this issue.

Jawad, do you know if we will be getting pre order for Need For Speed Most Wanted like the US store?
And if so, will that apply for the Vita version too?
Good work guys…
Posted on 26 September, 2012 at 2:23 pm by Jawad Ashraf
Possibly but I haven’t heard of it for us. There are other things coming, however.

Also, nice to see Mirror’s Edge on PSN.

I’ll take for granted that Final Fantasy III is in the VITA Store right? So I can buy it and download it from my PSVita.
18
Posted on 26 September, 2012 at 1:37 pm by Jordyce
This is a good week’s update.
With Final Fantasy III, that’s every title from 1 to 9 available on Vita too. Just gotta wait for FFXHD to appear, which judging by the lack of screenshots and Square’s slowness, should be early 2014.

CS:GO, is it going to be “game of the month” from plusmembers in 2015?!?

Jawad my bank balance hates you….. Picking up a hell of a lot this week especially with Uncharted down to ÂŁ15 and Mirrors Edge too, I loved that game and want to complete it again.
Also woooo!!!! GTA 3, happy now and can’t wait for VC and SA.

Just get CS GO from the USA store and risk getting your account locked, just contact Valve about where it is – have you seen their contact maze? They don’t even recognise CS GO as being on the PS3.
Still, Borderlands 2 that I bought from a shop is amazing.

An amazing update Tokyo Jungle, GTA 3 and Ice Hockey vita game for me. Just one question do you know if we will be getting GTA San Andreas anytime soon? With GTA 5 being set there i would love to relive the San Andreas area it the only game i completed about 10X and never got bored with. thankyou.

Still no Counter Strike and still no official answer/apology from SCEE as to why!
This is an awful way to treat your customers SCEE.
The game will get released one day and SCEE will probably sweep it under the rug like it never happened!
25
Posted on 26 September, 2012 at 1:39 pm by Hellscovern
will be getting Tokyo jungle for sure loved it when i saw the quick look for it on giant bomb, it’s totally wacky Japanese fun that has been missing this gen.

Posted on 26 September, 2012 at 1:39 pm by loonytoon1982
Been waiting for Tokyo Jungle to come around and the fact that it’s going to be 20% off as well as free DLC just makes it so much better. Really looking forward to the update this afternoon.
On a different tune, I had really hoped Rockstar would do HD versions of the GTA series from PS2, those games deserve that treatment. I’ll consider getting GTA3 though.

Damn, I had thought Little King’s Story would be a bit cheaper than RRP (like 30 or 35 euros). And as it seems, here in Belgium the retail version doesn’t release until the 31st of october or the second of november…
I’ll wait then I suppose…

No, but there are some RE5 avatars should go up today if all goes well.

Posted on 26 September, 2012 at 1:41 pm by sadlam79
A pretty decent update for once.
Starhawk single player, Super Stardust Portable and the Silent Hill Demo for me.
May pick up GTA III at some point. Thats the sort of quality PS2 title that should be released, not the rubbish that has been as of late.

When will Marvel vs Capcom Origins be coming here?
Also, Japan PSN store has Capcom vs SNK 2 as part of their PS2 Archives. When will we get it here as well and PLEASE release the 60hz version, not the 50hz please! Thank you

Still no CS GO!?! Wtf is wrong with you Sony!? Seriously I have supported and defended this company for so long but the patience is really starting to draw thin. Stuck with you through all the crap but the fact you won’t even provide some sort of info about go, is rediculous. I guarantee it someone in your organisation knows what is going on, speak to them and get us a damn response, this is your job, please do it.

Hey Jawad,
I know this isn’t the right place to ask really.
But I’d like to know more about the PS+ for Vita.
For example will Vita players get games like the PS3+ and what kind of games? full Vita games? PSn games? PSone games? Minis?
Also will PS+ PS3 users be able to dl this content in case they get a Vita in the future?
Theese questions are important to me, deciding if I should get a Vita soon or wait a bit longer.
Posted on 26 September, 2012 at 2:47 pm by Jawad Ashraf
Can’t disclose any of that info right now. There’ll be a separate announcement detailing it all in the coming months.

Nothing new for me this week but I’m still quite happily playing Double Dragon Neon. Best scrolling beat ‘em up on PS3 by far (and far, far superior to the cruddy Scott Pilgrim and Castle Crashers). Infamous collection is nice but I have all 3 games (cos I love that series)
And AlexPSN89 You’re wasting your PS3 if you don’t have running through a HD screen. I had to use my original PS3 with an SD screen for about a year before I got HD and hated having to put up with blurry graphics, tiny unreadable fonts and other annoyances. When I finally got a HDTV (1080p, 32inch screen for only ÂŁ199) it was like I got an almost all new console too as the PS3 just seemed so much better now everything was clearer and sharper.

Hi Jawad, about the Starhawk campaign mode us Plussers are getting for free: What trophies does it have? Does it have a platinum? Cheers for any info/pointers you can give dude

ÂŁ7.99 is an awful lot for GTAIII, I bought it for 69p on Android, and that version wasn’t just a straight emulation as it had to incorporate touch screen controls.

Ok, so after one month we still have no Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and no info about it. Seriously, Jawad: what is the problem with it? Why the biggest downloadable game of 2012 has been released regularly on every platform and every system, except European PS3?
I really hope to get it for free in the next PS Plus update, because this situation is really unacceptable, and all this silence around it is simply ridicolous.

Oh by the way are we getting Marvel Vs Capcom Origins soon? US store got it last night and I’ve enjoyed the demo. I hated the unplayable mess of 2 and the tediousness of 3 so it’s great to have the first one back and with Marvel Super Heroes too and they still play better than a lot of recent beat ‘em ups. And thankfully with the original pixel work intact too.

@ Jawad:
Also, holy wow, I just noticed Final Fantasy III.
That means that EVERY FF GAME FROM THE FIRST TO THE NINTH ARE AVAILABLE FOR PSP. The PSP is now the ultimate FF console. Well done, great job… simply outstanding! Amazing… kudos!
