In just 4 years, GlobalPost has received several of the most important awards in American journalism, including the prestigious Peabody Award; the Overseas Press Club Award for Breaking News, two Edward R. Murrow Awards; 25 Best in Business Journalism Awards from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers (SABEW); and the Pictures of the Year “Global Vision” award for original photography.
GlobalPost has been honored as the recipient of a 2011 George Foster Peabody Award for its “On Location” video series. The oldest award for electronic media, the Peabody recognizes “distinguished achievement and meritorious service by broadcasters, cable and Webcasters.” In 2011, GlobalPost published 75 “On Location” videos reported from 34 different countries.
It is the second year in a row that GlobalPost’s groundbreaking video series, “On Location” , has been honored with the prestigious Murrow award, which is given by The Radio Television Digital News Association to honor excellence in electronic journalism.
GlobalPost has been honored as the recipient of the Overseas Press Club (OPC) award for Online Coverage of Breaking News for its reporting on the fall of Gaddafi in 2011. The OPC awards honor excellence in international reporting.
GlobalPost has been honored with nine Best in Business Journalism Awards from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers (SABEW). SABEW’s 17th annual Best in Business Journalism competition recognizes top publications and web sites and the best business news reporting during 2011.
