Energy Assessments energy.usgs.gov

The USGS addresses the challenge of increasing demand for energy sources by conducting research on and providing scientific assessments of domestic and global geologic energy resources, including oil and gas, coal, geothermal, uranium, and more. USGS data and research on undiscovered, technically recoverable resources domestically and around the world help decision makers make informed choices regarding energy policy and resource management. By placing this information in the public domain, the USGS ensures that government leaders, investors, public and private organizations, and citizens have common and consistent information for decisions that affect the global environment and marketplace.
