Oshiomhole commends security agencies in Edo

GOVERNOR Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has commended security agencies in the state for helping to maintain peace and security in the state.

The Governor made the commendation yesterday after joining security agencies in their quarterly march which took them 11.3km to complete.

According to the Governor, there are plans by the State Government to award the contract for the Ekenwan road project, leading to the 322 Artillery Regiment of the Nigerian Army to deal with the gully erosion in the area, next year.

He said: “we are going to award the contract for the Ekenwan road gully erosion in the coming year,” he said, adding that the drawings are ready.

According to the governor, the security agencies have used the quarterly march to remind the people that walking is good to health.

The Commander, 4 Brigade, Benin City, Brigadier General Obi Abel Umahi, commended the officers for the keep fit exercise, noting that no one dropped both from the Commanders team and the Governor’s team.

“This reveals that the Security agencies and the government team are able. The Governor has come to show solidarity that he is behind us to ensure peace and security for the state. The reason for the keep fit exercise is multi barrel, it exercises the soul, spirit and body, it is a show of force to miscreants and a demonstration of cooperation between the security agencies in the state” he added.

The Security Agencies’ Quarterly march started at 6:00am from the 4 Brigade headquarters through Central Road, through Sapele road, through Akpakpava road down to Ikpoba hill round the Ramat park back through Akpakpava road to the Kings Square, through Airport Road, Golf Course Road, back to the 4 Brigade headquarters. The exercise lasted for three hours and forty-two minutes.
