URBANA — Free dental exams, cleanings and fluoride treatments will be available for kids from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 20 at Lincoln Square, Urbana.
The free dental services are being provided as part of Give Kids a Smile Day, sponsored by the Illini District Dental Society.
DANVILLE — The good news: Fewer Vermilion County high school students are drinking alcohol, smoking cigarettes and marijuana, attempting suicide, and using unhealthy methods to lose weight.
CHAMPAIGN — Students at Barkstall Elementary are about to learn a lot about fitness.
The school is starting a schoolwide initiative to encourage physical activity called "Fitness is Fun." It's registered with Michelle Obama's Let's Move! campaign, and students and teachers will log their physical activity every week.
CHAMPAIGN — Contributions to the United Way of Champaign County are running behind, with less than three months left to meet the agency’s $3.3 million goal.
As of Tuesday, the United Way had raised a bit over $3.03 million, about 9 percent behind where fundraising was at this time last year, says United Way President and CEO Sue Grey.
