General
NMI Council focuses on libraries for 90th anniversary Said General NMI Director Nina Gunter, "Raising the funds to provide pastors' libraries will certainly be a challenge. But this is a challenge we must undertake, as the future of the Church of the Nazarene and its holiness message are at stake. I'm so pleased to help support this worthwhile project." In other business, Gunter reported that NMI membership increased by 11,923 to 779,340 and that giving to the World Evangelism Fund increased by $1 million to a total of $41.8 million. Among churches in the United States, 46 percent overpaid the World Evangelism Fund by a total of $1.2 million. Giving to the Medical Plan also increased, a rise attributed in part to the new "Gifts from the Heart" emphasis. Total missions giving reached $63.7 million. The council also approved a joint project with Children's Ministries for 2003 to raise $250,000 to purchase vehicles for world mission areas. In addition, NMI will partner with Nazarene Youth International (NYI) in training initiatives for youth opportunities as part of the decadal emphasis on youth and children. Bustle; and regional representatives Esther Ribisi (Africa); Jung Kyung-sook (Asia-Pacific); Philip Weatherill (Eurasia); Marleny Palma de Medina (South America); Ana Maria Crocker de Diaz (Mexico/Central America); Margaret Eversley (Caribbean); Margaret Rossiter (Canada); Carol Techau (Central U.S.A.); Sue Fox (East Central U.S.A.); Geraldine Perry (Eastern U.S.A.); Susan Dillow (North Central U.S.A.); Mary Winkle (Northwest U.S.A.); Jane Bowers (South Central U.S.A.); Nina Fuller (Southeast U.S.A.); and John Wilcox (Southwest U.S.A.). Cunningham appointed to new roles on Asia-Pacific Region Cobb also has announced the appointment of Floyd Cunningham as regional education coordinator for the Asia-Pacific Region. He began his new duties on February 1. More than 3,000 resident students study at the region's 14 institutions of higher education; more than 1,100 other students study at extension theological education centers across the region. Cunningham also will continue as academic dean for Asia-Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary in Manila. RSA
