  • We lost a very dedicated Police Officer, Steven King, suddenly on September 22, 2012.  Officer King was a 25 year veteran of the Waterford Police Department and a well known officer in our community, very much respected by his fellow officers both in Waterford and throughout the entire area as well as the Citizens of our community. He served Waterford to the highest degree and will sorely be missed.  Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Founded in 1953, 2003 marked our department's 50th Anniversary of service to the people of Waterford!

As the photos show, we have come a long way since those early days! Our new building is located near Township Hall and the 51st District Court in the Waterford Civic Center Complex.

The department is currently staffed by 50 sworn officers and 19 civilian support staff.  In addition to patrol duties, our officers staff several specialized units including a Special Response Team, Motor Unit, Honor Guard and K-9 Unit.  Though our number of police officers is down due to budget cuts, our Police force continues to provide 100% service to the residents of Waterford.

To learn more about the history of the department, its patches and badges, or to find out other current information, please browse the links above. We hope you find the information on our department's web pages interesting and useful.
