Background Information

The Shatin to Central Link (SCL), which consists of the North South Line (NSL) and the East West Line (EWL), is a strategic railway line that runs through multiple districts in Hong Kong to strengthen the current railway networks by connecting several existing lines through a number of interchange stations.  The NSL is a 6-km extension of the East Rail Line from Hung Hom Station across the harbour to Admiralty Station, forming the North-South rail corridor.  The 11-km EWL extends the Ma On Shan Line from Tai Wai Station to Hung Hom where it will connect to the West Rail Line to form an East-West rail corridor.

To serve the NSL, new trains will be procured.

The East Rail Line trains are Electric-Multiple-Units operated by 25 kV ac traction supply. The maximum service speed is 120kph. Train operation is currently under ATO/ATP signaling control and the new train will be capable to operate in Fully-Automatic-Operation.

Scope of Works

The scope of works comprises the design, manufacture, supply, delivery, installation, testing, commissioning and rectification of defects during the defects liability period for the new trains, including the provision of special tools and testing equipment, spare parts, operation and maintenance manuals, training, etc. to facilitate the operation and maintenance of the trains.

In order to be considered for prequalification, interested parties having relevant resources, qualifications and experiences are requested to express their interest on or before 14:00 (Hong Kong Time) on 7 October 2011 via the MTR Corporation Limited's E-Tendering System.  Late applications will not be considered.

Closing Date for Return of Answers / Information

Upon expression of interest, the contractors will receive invitation of prequalification via the E-Tendering System within 2 weeks of 7 October 2011. The contractors shall complete and submit all information and details as required in the invitation via the E-Tendering System no later than the time specified in the prequalification invitation letter.
