The Interestings by Meg Wolitzer

Saturday April 20, 2013

The Interestings by Meg Wolitzer Confession: I loved having this book on my nightstand. Winter is always an act of perseverance for me, so the cover of The Interestings was like a symbol of spring to me -- so happy and vibrant. Did I enjoy reading the book, which has already gained critical acclaim from the likes of Jeffrey Eugenides and The New York Times, as much as I enjoyed looking at its cover? You'll have to read this review to find out.

Tuesday April 16, 2013

The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten BoomApril is Holocaust Remembrance Month. In honor, I just reread one of my favorite books, The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom. This memoir about a Dutch family that hid Jews during World War II is an inspirational addition to Holocaust literature.

Orphan Master's Son Wins Pulitzer Prize

Monday April 15, 2013

The Orphan Master's Son by Adam JohnsonThe Orphan Master's Son by Adam Johnson was one of our Best Books of 2012 and a personal favorite, so I was happy to see the announcement that it won the Pulitzer Prize. The novel, which takes place in North Korea, is also timely considering how much that nation has been in the news lately.
